SESSION'S TOPIC

Understanding Divorce

Finding wholeness in Christ through your brokenness

Divorce is a serious and rampant problem in our generation. So, how should Christians deal with this issue when it affects us, our loved ones, or members of our church family? How can divorced people survive this tragedy, rebuilding their lives and identities in Christ Jesus?

Chris Alvarez was divorced in 2012 after his ex-wife had an affair. Through this painful chapter of his life, he learned to trust and depend on God, despite the pain. In this dark time, he also saw that the Christian church is sometimes unprepared to counsel and sustain those who face this devastating circumstance. Chris was able to start a “divorce-care” group through his church, and help lead many people to find healing. Chris has a passion to see people find healing and wholeness in Christ, even through the brokenness of divorce.

Now, remarried, Chris now stands as a testament to Gods redeeming power, grace, and love. Chris and his wife Becky have lived in Xiamen for two years, and are the leaders of Manthanos (XICF’s youth group).

Join us to hear about Jim and Joann’s journey and lessons learned along the way.
